Acute on chronic kidney disease……. or acute and chronic kidney disease?

A discussion aimed at updating traditional thinking that acute and chronic kidney disease are separate entities. Acute/active kidney injury and CKD may be a continuum of disease that can exist simultaneously in a patient, each predisposing to and exacerbating the other.  A practical approach to diagnosing and monitoring patients for each condition, with appropriate treatment, will be provided.
