Disabled Pets and Their Vets

Over the past few years, social media has helped to increase exposure and change attitudes towards pets with disabilities. In the past, disabled animals were routinely euthanized because they were deemed unable to have a good quality of life. Thankfully, a new understanding of disabilities and quality of life is displacing this old antiquated approach to special needs and disabled pets. With a little extra planning, compassion, and creativity veterinarians are in a unique position to guide and support clients who choose to care for these awesome, deserving animals.
