"Surgical Management of Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome "
Pugs, English Bulldogs and French Bull dogs are considered extreme brachycephalic breeds. As of 2022, the French Bulldog has become the most popular breed according to the American Kennel Club. Despite several conformational abnormalities associated with brachycephalic breeds, many clinical signs go untreated. Clients are often unaware of certain clinical signs as problematic and are deemed “normal” for the breed. This can allow several secondary and irreversible changes to occur. Early surgical intervention is paramount. The benefits of combined medical and surgical management, surgical techniques, and postoperative management will be discussed in this lecture.
