Culture gets a lot of lip service but often very little attention. We are experiencing a time of change in veterinary medicine. We have an increasing level of dissatisfaction amongst veterinarians and increasing rates of burnout, especially in veterinarians under 301. The business world is very aware of the importance of workplace culture. CEOs and CFOs of 1,400 North American companies were interviewed over a thirteen-month period for a Duke business school study. Ninety-two percent agreed that improving their workplace culture would improve company performance, and yet only fifteen percent thought the firm’s culture was where it needed to be.
