The modern clinician has many tools to their disposal to try and make an accurate assessment of their patient. This session focusses on commonly applied diagnostic strategies, including screening for diseases, and where it is useful, where it is a waste of resources and where it actually could harm the patient and the client-veterinarian relationship. This will be an honest look at what we do right and where we could do better in terms of diagnostic tests choices.
- How to assess whether screening for a disease makes actual sense
- Assess for commonly commercially available tests: do they do what the y claim they do?
- Assess for commonly commercially available tests: do they actually help me in managing the case differently?
- Start using certain tests less (since they do not provide added value) and others more
