Turning Endocrine Crises into Manageable Cases: Navigating Adrenal, Pancreatic, and Parathyroid Emergencies in Practice
October 29, 2026
IDEXX Advanced Diagnostics Theater
This lecture provides a practical framework for the recognition and management of common endocrine emergencies involving the adrenal and parathyroid glands and the endocrine pancreas. Emphasis is placed on identifying key clues that raise suspicion for endocrine dysfunctions, or their therapies, as causes of illness. Participants will review appropriate diagnostic strategies, acute treatment recommendations, and practical approaches to stabilization. Guidance on transitioning to long-term management, including maintenance therapy and monitoring protocols, will support sustained positive patient outcomes.
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Apply a structured approach to the initial assessment and management of endocrine emergencies involving the pancreas, adrenal glands, and parathyroid glands
- Identify key clinical and historical indicators that suggest underlying endocrine disease or treatment-related complications in emergency presentations
- Select and prioritize appropriate diagnostic tests for confirming suspected acute endocrine disorders
- Implement treatment strategies for the acute management of endocrine emergencies
- Establish maintenance and monitoring plans to support long-term patient stability
