Pancreatitis Demystified: From Clues to Care

October 30, 2026
Midtown Clinical Theater
Internal Medicine

Acute pancreatitis in dogs is a common yet often confusing clinical condition due to its variable presentation and inconsistent diagnostic performance. This session provides a practical, streamlined review of how to recognize key clinical clues, interpret available diagnostics, and implement evidence‑based treatment strategies. The lecture also introduces Panoquell‑CA1 (fuzapladib sodium), the first FDA‑conditionally approved therapy for managing clinical signs associated with acute pancreatitis in dogs.

  • Recognize the key clinical signs, risk factors, and diagnostic tools (including strengths and limitations of cPLI and abdominal ultrasound) used to accurately diagnose acute pancreatitis in dogs.
  • Describe supportive and symptomatic management of pancreatitis in dogs.
  • Understand the mechanism of action of Panoquell-CA1 and how it may be used alongside traditional supportive and symptomatic care.
