Controlled Substance: Prescribing, Reporting, Record Keeping & Diversion Prevention - Part 1

Nov 07, 2019
Clinician’s Brief Clinical Theater 3
Practice Manager

Today's veterinarian needs to understand the scope of the opioid epidemic, and how drug diversion from their hospital impacts this crisis. Being aware of the types of diversion and signs of someone diverting will help the hospital to set up and run a Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention Program required by the DEA. A complete understanding will also include identifying who the regulators and enforcers are, and the schedules of controlled substances at both the state and federal level.

  • Understand the scope of the opioid epidemic and how drug diversion impacts this crisis.
  • Discuss the formation of a Controlled Substance Diversion and Prevention Program.
  • Understand who the regulators and enforcers are for both the DEA and New York.
  • Identify the schedule of commonly used drugs for both the DEA and State of New York.
