Dr. Dorothy (Dorrie) Black is currently serving as CEO and criticalist of Omega Veterinary group. Dr. Black received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master's Degree of Preventive Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis. While completing her Masters she worked as a general practitioner in Sacramento at Banfield Pet Hospital. She subsequently completed a small animal rotating internship at VCA Hotel Circle, San Diego, with emphasis on small animal and exotic emergency medicine. She completed her residency and certification in Emergency and Critical Care at University of Pennsylvania. She spent the next 5 formative years with Texas A&M as a clinical assistant professor, returning to the Bay Area in 2013 to work as an associate criticalist at Animal Internal Medicine and Specialty Services. Dr. Black founded Omega Veterinary Group in 2023 with the dream and ambition of creating a true critical care focused hospital for the small animals of the Bay Area. She is passionate about providing stellar and progressive medicine and advancing critical care with special interests in infectious disease, antimicrobial therapy, and coagulation in critical illness.
