Dr Hayes graduated in 1998 from the University of Bristol, England. After several years in mixed as well as general small animal and ER practice in England and Canada she completed two residencies in small animal emergency medicine and critical care and in small animal surgery at the Ontario Veterinary College, Canada. She also completed a PhD in epidemiology. Her passions are evidence based medicine, complication free surgery, and statistical modelling, for which she apologizes.
