Heather L. Troyer
Hospitalist,
Oradell Animal Hospital
Dr. Troyer graduated from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at The Animal Medical Center in NYC in 2001-2002. She explored veterinary medicine in developing areas of the world during the next few years of her career, and then established herself at the Oradell Animal Hospital in 2005. After working as a generalist, emergency doctor, adjunct critical care doctor, and surgeon, she became a Diplomat of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Canine and Feline Practice in 2010. She also trained at the Chi Institute in acupuncture, advanced acupuncture, and Tui Na in 2011. Dr. Troyer founded the first in-home nursing/palliative care program in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, PA) in 2010 called CARES (Compassionate Animal Relief to End Suffering). Together with a team of highly trained and committed veterinary technicians, Dr. Troyer and CARES served pets and their families by teaching the family to be the primary care giver during their pet's final life chapter. This experience led her to continue her education in pain management by becoming a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner and in 2021, Dr. Troyer began a new career path as a Hospitalist. Her skills in palliative care, integrative medicine, advanced general medicine, and out-patient analgesic procedures allows her to collaborate across specialties and work towards the highest quality in-patient care. Outside of work, Dr. Troyer is an avid runner and enjoys traveling, eating, being with her kids, and chasing her animals.
