Dr. Alvarez is head of the Animal Medical Center’s (AMC) Integrative and Rehabilitative Medicine Department in New York City. She is a board-certified diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and certified in veterinary acupuncture, canine rehabilitation and advanced Chinese herbal medicine. She completed her internship and residency at AMC. Dr. Alvarez has published numerous peer reviewed studies and book chapters and is an author of the Handbook of Canine Exercise Therapy, the only book of its kind. She is a frequent national and international speaker. Her research interests include geriatrics, shockwave therapy and joint supplements.
