Melissa Shapiro

Melissa Shapiro, DVM is a small-animal veterinarian, author, and speaker. She’s the creator of social media phenomenon Piglet, the deaf blind pink puppy. Dr. Shapiro is an outspoken advocate for disabled pets through her social media platforms, media appearances, and presentations at veterinary conferences. Her nonprofit, Piglet International Inc, implements the Piglet Mindset® Educational Program that teaches resilience, inclusion, and kindness in schools globally. Her memoir, Piglet, and children’s book, Piglet Comes Home, are available wherever books are sold. Dr. Shapiro is the owner of The Visiting Vet Service. She lives in CT with her husband, Warren Shapiro, and 8 rescued dogs.
