This year’s New York Vet attendees have a superb opportunity to win a two week adventure trip to Malawi with Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) for two people by simply collecting a stamp in their voucher passport from each of the participating sponsor booths in the exhibition hall on November 7-8.
What You Can Expect in Malawi:
Your Malawi Adventure starts in the city of Blantyre in the south of the country. WVS has been working for the past five years on a city-wide dog rabies vaccination and sterilisation programme to help eliminate the deadly disease, control the number of stray dogs and ensure a healthy canine population. In your first week, you will be part of the WVS team working with local vets to continue this work, but to also help with the ongoing community education campaign. You will be staying at the luxury Leslie’s Lodge, located in the heart of Blantyre.
After a week in Blantyre you will head to the shores of Lake Malawi where you will spend your remaining days relaxing and enjoy your time by the lake, which is the ninth largest lake in the world and home to more species of fish than any other lake! You will be based here for a few days where you can relax or enjoy the various water sports on offer. One day during this week, you will be taken on an afternoon boat cruise to see some of the wide variety of bird species in the area which is sure to be a fantastic sight! From African Fish Eagles to Marabou Storks, you will see why Malawi is called a paradise for birdwatchers. Your boat safari will end watching the sun set in the distance, with a “sundowner” in hand.
On your final day you will take a short drive back to Blantyre and you will head back to the airport ready for your flight home, desperate to share the amazing memories with your friends and family.
*Competition winners must ensure they are up to date with tetanus and rabies vaccinations prior to departure. Additional costs such as visas, vaccinations and travel insurance are not included. To maximise your experience, it would be beneficial if both trip attendees are in the veterinary profession. Flights will be arranged for departure from the city in which you attended the vet show.
